DEDICATED TO PRESERVING LAND AND WILDLIFE HABITAT

HOW MAY YOU HELP THE AVALONIA LAND CONSERVANCY?

You may own woodlands, fields, and streams that you love and want to maintain
in their natural state. Your gift of this land to the Avalonia Land
Conservancy(ALC) will increase ALC's holdings and add to the permanently
protected area in your neighbor-hood. Your gift may be the catalyst that
stimulates your neighbors to protect some of their land, thus creating a "green
belt" or a larger, more significant sanctuary for wildlife.

Your land may contain swamps, marshes, ledges, and other wetland areas that
are unsuitable for development. Such places provide excellent habitats for
wildlife and protection for brooks and streams. ALC is interested in protecting
these areas, as well as a variety of upland habitats, including woodlands and
meadows.

Your membership or gift of financial support assists ALC in achieving its goals.
All funds are applied directly to the ALC's purposes to preserve and maintain its
preserves and to educate the public about the importance of open space. Your
support as a member and volunteer gives you the opportunity to participate in
the work of ALC. In return, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are a
vital element in ALC's important environmental work.

HOW MAY THE AVALONIA LAND CONSERVANCY HELP YOU AS A LAND
DONOR?
The land you give to ALC will be conserved, preserved, and protected forever.
The value of adjacent property will be enhanced by the assurance that ALC-held
land will never be developed.
You may be able to deduct the value of your gift of land on your Federal Income
Tax Return or from your estate. ALC retains 501(c) (3) tax-exempt status with
the Internal Revenue Service.  Land held by ALC is not taxable in the State of
Connecticut.
An ALC director from your town will be happy to meet with you to discuss the
financial and technical aspects of a land donation. You may also wish to consult
your own financial and legal advisors. An acquisition committee will review your
offer and evaluate your land for inclusion in the Conservancy's holding.
Avalonia has a strong commitment to protect the conservation purposes of a
donation and has the resources to enforce the restrictions.
